I also still had the legacy Document/BeamNG.drive folder that linked to the same missing path so I deleted that, though you'd have to have a pretty old install to even run into that folder. Ontop of just searching BeamNG I was sure to delete every reference to this old path as it no longer exists. There were numerous references to an old install path I had for the game under a different drive. Once I cleaned up the registry and reinstalled steam the launcher opened correctly!!Īs a last observation, I think that the problem was at least partially related to old paths for BeamNG. After confirming the right value for an uninstalled app was in-fact 0, I changed the value of that key to 0. Even after uninstalling, the D_WORD 'Installed' under Computer\HKEY_USERS\**\Software\Valve\Steam\Apps\284160 still was 1.

In addition to any Windows related registry entries I also left the Steam entry though I made one interesting observation that I DID change. These are all extremely tedious to get through with the default regedit tool so you might wanna look for an alternative.ĭeleting a bunch of windows registry entries takes some technical knowledge to know what's safe and not safe to delete so be careful and probably just reinstall steam if you're not technically knowledgeable on what you're doing here.
It'll give you a warning if you try to delete these anyways I'm pretty sure. The only references I left are any of the core Windows ones (all under Computer\HKEY_USERS\HKEY_USERS\**\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.).

I just did a full scorched earth technique. I wish I could give some specific path key but I can't. In my case there were quite a lot, some relating to very old installation paths. Search up BeamNG and delete basically any remaining references to BeamNG. In my case I was able to start up beamNG just fine by going directly to the excecutable so this problem seems to be completely unrelated from the contents of the userdata folder(s). Uninstall BeamNG (I hate uninstalling shit as much as the next person but this shouldn't affect anything significant if you've backed up your userdata folder). I spoke with support and none of their suggestions helped so here's my own: Solved this myself and since it was the top result on google I figured I'd post my solution here for any future people having this issue.
